DISABILITY IN THE WORKPLACE COURSE OVERVIEW

The federal government has laws to ensure that people with disabilities can participate in the workforce. One of these laws is the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), created to grant equal opportunities and prohibit discrimination in all areas of society against people with disabilities. Upon successful completion of this course, you should be able to:

  • Identify the purpose and scope of the ADA
  • Define disability and recognize examples of disabilities
  • Identify the requirements mandated in the Employment (Title I) section by defining "qualified with a disability," "reasonable accommodations," "essential functions," and "undue hardship"
  • Determine whether specific examples are in compliance with or in violation of the ADA

 

REGULATIONS

This course was designed to help satisfy the requirements of the following regulations:

  • Americans with Disabilities Act
  • ADA Amendments Act of 2008 PL 110-325
  • ADA Technical Assistance Manual, Title II

DISABILITY IN THE WORKPLACE COURSE TOPICS

  • Disabilities and how to recognize them
  • Disability issues in employment
  • Examples of compliance with and violations of the ADA

DISABILITY IN THE WORKPLACE COURSE DURATION: Approximately 20 minutes

DISABILITY IN THE WORKPLACE COURSE ASSESSMENT: Testing conducted throughout this online course is designed to reinforce the information presented. A mark of 80% must be achieved in order to receive a certificate of completion. Users are able to repeat the course twice if the pass mark is not achieved.

DISABILITY IN THE WORKPLACE CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION: Upon successful completion of this online course, a certificate of completion will be available for download and printing.
